In this scanned document, dated December 28, 1967, Edward H. Williams 3rd, relates an even longer history of the wedding gown worn by his wife Gladys and daughter, Jacqueline. It was researched by his son Edward H. Williams 4th. In the document it states that the satin for the dress was purchased by Robert Newell who brought it back from China and evidently gave it to his wife-to-be Lydia Barker for their wedding in November 1790. it was next worn by their daughter Sophia Newell to Daniel Beers in January 1813. However Gladys House Williams (wife of Edward 3rd) states that it was her grandmother, Adeline Bigelow Beers, who first wore it.
If true it adds two more brides to have worn the dress and 53 years to its age!
