Photo of Zenas is NOT confirmed. There are two pictures, one a tin-type, that by their placement in the photo collection makes it very a likely guess.

Records show that Zenas H. Chapman enlisted in the Union army on January 31, 1865 from the state of Illinois. He enlisted as a Private in Company K, 147th Infantry Regiment Illinois and was mustered out Company K, 147th Infantry Regiment Illinois on 20 January 1866 in Savannah, GA. The record also shows a note for Distinguished Service.

Zenas was born in Avon, Ohio (Lorain county) and died at Grants Pass, OR.

Martha Jane was born in Aurora, Clackamas county, OR, and died in Medford, OR.
