Family Notes

In 1742, John's father gave him land in division called North West Quarter, West side of Connecticut River, containing 38 acres more or less, bounded east by the highway, west on Beckley River, north on Nathan Sage and south on William Savage. (Not sure where this might be. There is no Beckley river in Cromwell. However Martha's family lived in an area of Berlin called Beckleyville, named for its First Settler, Sgt Richard Beckley and his family. Their property spanned both sides of what is now called the Mattabassett River)
