Joseph settled in Wethersfield where he inherited lands from his father in the south meadow. He was made a freeman in 1668; removed to and became a householder in Rocky Hill district, March 1670-1.
Joseph's second wife Mary Bushnell (b. Feb. 20, 1672, Saybrook; d. June 1, 1735, Wethersfield). Records show that she was the widow of William Miller of Glastonbury, who died Aug. 22, 1705, and that her parents were John and Sarah Scranton Bushnell.
Son, Benjamin (1673 - 1750) lived at 27 Coles Rd in Cromwell, CT (then called Middletown Upper houses) and drowned at sea in 1750. He and his wife Thankful Sage had 4 children: Mary, Comfort, Lucia and Joseph. Thankful Sage was the daugther of John Sage and Hannah Starr.
