Elizabeth had two brothers, John Carlton House (1903 - 1998) and Arthur Emerson House (1911 - 1979).
Elizabeth was one of 6 brides to wear the wedding dress of her great-grandmother, Adeline Bigelow Beers. She was also the flower girl at the wedding of her aunt Ethel, who also wore the dress.
Elizabeth married a second time in 1947 to Frank Edwards (1894-1964)
Mrs. Elizabeth House Edwards, of 131 Pinecrest Drive died unexpectedly on the night of December 28th at the Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx. Mrs. Edwards was 48 years old and the wife of Frank G. Edwards, employee of the Ford Steal Products Corp.
Born in Hastings on February 9, 1906, she was the daughter of Mrs. Julia Emerson House and the late John H. House. She graduated from Hastings High School, attended Wheaton College and graduated from Teachers College of Columbia University.
From 1938 to 1953, Mrs. Edwards taught arts and crafts at the Fieldston School in Riverdale. She was a member of the Ethical Culture Society of New York.
Surviving her besides her husband and mother, are two sons of a previous marriage, Robert E. Courtney and John H. Courtney, both of Hastings; two brothers, John C. House of Covington, Va., and Arthur E. House of Dobbs Ferry and two grandchildren.
Services were performed by the Rev. David O. Kendall of the South Presbyterian Church in Dobbs Ferry at Edwards Funeral Home. Interment was at Ferncliff Cemetery.
